چکیده

This paper presents a modified optimal control model of drug scheduling in cancer chemotherapy and a new adaptive elitist-population based genetic algorithm (AEGA) to solve it. Working closely with an oncologist, we firstly modify the existing model, because the existing equation of the cumulative drug toxicity is not consistent with the clinical experience and the medicine knowledge. For exploring multiple efficient drug scheduling policies, we propose the novel variable representation – the cycle-wise representation; and adjust the elitist genetic search operators in the AEGA. The results obtained by the new model match well with the clinical treatment experience, and can provide much more realistic solutions than that by the previous model. Moreover, it has been shown that the evolutionary drug scheduling approach is simple and capable of solving complex cancer chemotherapy problems by adapting the suitable coding and the multimodal versions of EAs.

Fast Drug Scheduling Optimization Approach for Cancer Chemotherapy

In this paper, we propose a novel fast evolutionary algorithm — cycle-wise genetic algorithm (CWGA) based on the theoretical analyses of a drug scheduling mathematical model for cancer chemotherapy. CWGA is more efficient than other existing algorithms to solve the drug scheduling optimization problem. Moreover, its simulation results match well with the clinical treatment experience, and can p...

Mathematical Modeling and Lyapunov-Based Drug Administration in Cancer Chemotherapy

In this paper a new mathematical model is developed for the dynamics between tumor cells, normal cells, immune cells, chemotherapy drug concentration and drug toxicity. Then, the theorem of Lyapunov stability is applied to design treatment strategies for drug protocols that ensure a desired rate of tumor cell kill and push the system to the area with smaller tumor cells. Using of this theorem a...

Reinforcement learning based feedback control of tumor growth by limiting maximum chemo-drug dose using fuzzy logic

In this paper, a model-free reinforcement learning-based controller is designed to extract a treatment protocol because the design of a model-based controller is complex due to the highly nonlinear dynamics of cancer. The Q-learning algorithm is used to develop an optimal controller for cancer chemotherapy drug dosing. In the Q-learning algorithm, each entry of the Q-table is updated using data...

An Energy-efficient Mathematical Model for the Resource-constrained Project Scheduling Problem: An Evolutionary Algorithm

In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient mathematical model for the resource-constrained project scheduling problem to optimize makespan and consumption of energy, simultaneously. In the proposed model, resources are speed-scaling machines. The problem is NP-hard in the strong sense. Therefore, a multi-objective fruit fly optimization algorithm (MOFOA) is developed. The MOFOA uses the VIKO...

Mathematical Modeling of Cancer Cells and Chemotherapy Protocol Dealing Optimization Using Fuzzy Differential Equations And Lypunov Stability Criterion

Mathematical models can simulate the growth and proliferation of cells in the interaction with healthy cells, the immune system and measure the toxicity of drug and its effects on healthy tissue pay. One of the main goals of modeling the structure and growth of cancer cells is to find a control model suitable for administration among patients. In this study, a new mathematical model is designed...
